| We made popcorn using a members microwave for our weekly planning session! |
Well, I cant believe it is already November. This week was pretty normal. Still getting to know my area and everything, and we are contacting by doors more and with Hna Meza she is teaching me a lot and it feels like we are making our contacting count more. Not just inviting to church, but teaching about the restauration and having a mini lesson there on the street.
Monday was Halloween, which we had a FHE with a recent converts who gave us little hard candy for halloween, because no kids came to her door. Which they dont really celebrate halloween here, because they say its from the devil, etc. So only a few kids in the streets dressed up monday night. But it was still fun to see them.
Also ate chopped pig feet meat with potatoes and rice. It was really gross, and not really a fan of that one.
Also we went to a members house for lunch as normal, but when we got there they were also preparing chicken feet. It was really interesting.. and really gross. They chop off the nails of the chicken feet and then put it in the soup. Which sunday we ate with them again and there they were, in the soup. Me and my comp did a terrible thing and ate around the feet. Oh the adventures of the mission.
On saturday we were going to teach a less active member, and there dog was guarding the door. and we walked around it and it was barking intensly and almost bit us. Super scary but she wasnt home anyway. (There are SO MANY DOGS here, and honestly I hate dogs and also, thanks to ally, have a fear of getting bit haha) So as we walked down the hill, (my area is part Cerroz, or hills with stairs) we decided to knock on this one door. A guy opened the door, Fabian, 20 years old, and we taught him Lesson 1, or the restauration. He said he had always wondered why there were so many different churches, and he said that other religions couldnt anwser that question like the Jahovas Witness and Catholic, but we could! Sunday morning we walked in to the chapel and there he was! Sitting and waiting. He said he had a really neat expierence at church and wants to learn more! It is so amazing. God really does prepare people for us to teach!
I love this gospel and I am so glad that I have the opportunity to be here! I love you all and am so greatful for all your wonderful examples to me! I know this church is true and know with out a doubt, even when its really hard, I am supposed to be here and god has a plan for me and all of you!
Love you all!
Love, Hna Smoot
